Well, I finally decided to explore the hand tufted method of manufacture as an option for certain designs and I just received this photo of a sample I order from my manufacturer in India following the design and instructions I sent him...100% New Zealand wool has been used in 10mm and 12mm pile so that the tangerine motif is slightly raised from the background... I hope this will be an attractive option for clients...

Handmade rugs are woven or knotted by hand. Every single knot is done by hand whereas a machine-made rug is made entirely by a machine also called a power loom.  Hand-tufted rugs are also referred to as handmade rugs although they are made using a drill gun that inserts the pile into a cloth backing creating a loop pile. When this pile is sheared (trimmed) the loop piles turn into a cut pile. These rugs may be referred to and look like handmade rugs but cost less since the gun makes for faster production. Just before Christmas I decided to act on an impulse that was slowly becoming an obsession ... I LOVE & breathe color ... I NEED it ... and this I have discovered through trial and error. It's always exciting to receive a new rug, to see the finished result and the satisfaction that arises from that moment of conception culminating in the outcome now at your feet...and this time was no exception especially since I was receiving my first round rug and a design that I love - Barcelona Sun. Hand knotted rugs may take up to 4 months to manufacture so one has to learn patience! When choosing a colour scheme for a room a good point to start from is a rug that you may already have or a rug you’ve seen and would love to incorporate into your scheme. It’s usually much easier to start with the rug of your choice rather than to have already created your interior scheme and try to find a rug that will match, harmonize and accentuate the existing décor.
